All four members of the high school rodeo team competed in Broken Bow last weekend in two rodeos. The team did well with several placing. The spring rodeos will start up the end of April. Contestants are competing for points to get them into the top thirty to qualify for state the end of June.
In the first rodeo on Saturday Charmayne Strong placed seventh in the goat tying with a time of 10.12 seconds. The event was won by Jordan Hagedorn of West Point with a time of 8.84 seconds. Charmayne was second in the pole bending with a time of 21.637 seconds. The event was won by Jade Atkins of Broken Bow with a time of 21.468 seconds.
Brock Henry placed third in the steer wrestling with a time of 8.60 seconds. The event was won by Cord Hesseltine of Halsey with a time of 7.65 seconds.
On Sunday in rodeo number two Charmayne was tenth in the breakaway calf roping with a time of 3.94 seconds. The event was won by Bailey Brown of North Platte with a time of 2.58 seconds. Charmayne placed ninth in the goat tying with a time of 10.97 seconds. The event was won by Torie Opela of Stapleton with a time of 8.45. Charmayne also placed in the pole bending with a time of 22.331. The event was won by Sydney O’Daniel of Bennington with a time of 21.306 seconds.
Cody Darnell and his team roping pardner JT Adamson of Cody were second in the team roping with a time of 12.00 seconds. The event was won by Tanner and AJ Freeman of Dunning with a time of 11.72 seconds. Overall a good showing for the team.
