The Lady Hawks opened up their weekend of play Friday night with a thriller in Crawford. The Lady Hawks came back from a two set deficit against the Lady Rams to win the game in five exciting sets. The Lady Rams took the first two sets 25-22 and 28-26 before the Lady Hawks came firing back with a vengeance to win the next three sets 25-21, 25-23, and 15-11.
Stephanie Tlustos led the Lady Hawks with a triple double with 29 points including 8 aces, 20 assists, and 24 digs. Elizabeth Roberts also finished with a super game with 15 points including 4 aces, 10 kills, and 28 digs. She also added 1 block. Whitney Heiting added 16 points including 2 aces and 4 kills. Kodee Muhr added 14 points, 33 digs, and 8 assists. Michaela Metcalf finished the game with 7 kills, 8 points, and 2 blocks.
Saturday morning, the Hawks traveled to Morrill for the Panhandle Conference tournament. The Hawks took on the Morrill Lady Lions, the newest member of the Panhandle Conference and defeated them 25-21, 17-25, and 25-23. Leading the Lady Hawks were the Roberts sisters. Kate Roberts finished the game with 16 points and 12 digs, while Elizabeth Roberts added 12 points and 29 digs. Michaela Metcalf led the hitters with 6 kills and also added 5 points and 1 block. Kodee Muhr finished the game with 13 points including 3 aces, 8 assists, 4 kills, and 1 block.
In the second game of the tournament, the Lady Hawks battled hard against the Edgemont Lady Moguls winning the first set 25-18 before dropping the next two sets by identical 25-18 scores. Whitney Heiting led the Lady Hawks with 12 points and 13 digs. Kodee Muhr led the setters with 12 assists and also added 17 digs, and 7 points. Elizabeth Roberts led in the hitter category with 8 kills. She also added 18 digs, 9 points, and 1 assist. Kate Roberts and Michaela Metcalf each added 5 kills. Jesse Heiting also added a double double for the Lady Hawks with 17 digs and 11 points.
The loss to the Lady Moguls put the Lady Hawks in the third place game against the Hemingford Lady Cats. The Lady Hawks played a tough game but fell to the Lady Cats in two very close sets 25-21 and 26-24. Jesse Heiting led the Lady Hawks in scoring with 15 points including 1 ace. She also added 6 assists. Three players finished in double figures in digs including Whitney Heiting with 18, Michaela Metcalf with 16, and Elizabeth Roberts with 13. Kodee Muhr led the setters with 8 assists, while Elizabeth Roberts led the Hawks with 9 kills.
The Lady Hawks’ record stands at 8-13 on the season.
