The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 10:10 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is posted on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Andersen made a motion to approve the minutes of 4-21-2014. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board signed claim checks and salary checks.
Road Superintendent Tom Kuester presented the board a check in the amount of $5858.63 from Otte & Voss Action Service for the surplus items that were sold at the auction.
Bruce Salisbury from the County Tourism Board met with the board to inform them of a possible new board member. The board currently has 5 members so the bylaws would need to be revised to increase the board members to 7. The board asked Salisbury to report back after the Tourism Board has met to discuss the matter.
The board discussed the passing of an outstanding public service citizen, George Darr of Hay Springs. Mr. Darr has served the County as a member and Chairman of the County Extension Board, as a member of the committee that helped establish Sheridan County as a “Livestock Friendly County” and as a member of the County Planning Board. Andersen made a motion to sign a letter of acknowledgement of the hard work done by Mr. Darr and send it to his family. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
