The Sheridan County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at 9:30 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Kling stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 11-17-2014. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Krotz made a motion to approve an amendement to the Section 125 county employee benefit plan to remain in compliance with the provisions of the Affordable Care Act. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Road Superintendent Kuester met with the board to discuss road issues. Jason and Kristen Scott were present to clarify some information that was unclear in the newspaper article from last meeting. Kuester informed them that the road will be cleared in the case of a storm but it is not top priority as it is not a collector or local road. The emergency response will be dealt with immediately.
Chuck Lemp presented the board with an Addendum to “Sale Contract” for approval. Andersen made a motion to sign the Addendum to Sale Contract allowing Sheridan County to purchase additional crushed rock of approximately 22,500 ton at $11.50/ton. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Sheriff Robbins reported to the board that the county’s insurance company (NIRMA) has declared the county’s 2007 Crown Vic patrol car as a total loss. The cost to repair the vehicle would be $7,059 and the book value is only $4,475. The vehicle was in a collision with a deer.
The board recessed at 10:10 A.M. and reconvened as the Board of Equalization to discuss a follow up correction sheet. The board reopened at 10:15. All members present.
The board review a subdivision request for Margaret Walgren. Krotz made a motion to authorize the subdivision request of 4.92 acre parcel of rural land for Margaret Walgren. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
At 10:30 A.M. Daniel Bennett of the Panhandle Area Development District and Kirk Budd of the Sheridan County Planning Commission presented the board the completed update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan. At the request of the Commissioners a few small changes were made and a public hearing date was set for Thursday, January 8, 2015. Copies of the Comprehensive Plan are available in each of the County’s Public Libraries and will also be available online at http://www.sheridancountyne.com/.
The board reviewed a Comprehensive Juvenile Services Plan that Sherry Retzlaff submitted. The board approved the plan for a three year period. January 2015 to June 30, 2018.
