The Board of Education of Hay Springs Public Schools District #3 held its regular meeting on July 13, 2015 at the school cafeteria. Notice of the said meeting was published in the July 1, 2015 edition of the Sheridan County Journal Star and on the school website. Called to order at 7:10 p.m. by President Hunzeker. Mike Hunzeker, Miriam Kearns, Everette Langford and Marilyn Reed. Superintendent Cline was also present. A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Kearns to excuse the absences of Johnson and Anderson. There are only a few projects on the summer maintenance plan left to be completed. A list of topics for the board retreat was reviewed. Training on the new business software is almost complete. The closeout phone call is scheduled. Linda Kudrna presented the 2nd draft of the alcohol citation agreement between players and coaches. Summer School and camps are completed. The administration is recommending new grammar books for grades 6-12. Rick Schneider would like the school, city, and Lister-Sage boards to work together to find a solution for the drainage of rain water from the school to the south end of town. The board welcomed new Supt Cline to his first board meeting. A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Kearns to approve the minutes of the June 8, 2015 regular board meeting as corrected to reflect the amount of bills and payroll. A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Kearns to approve the agenda of the July 13, 2015 meeting. Fuller Construction will begin their portion of the light project next week. The other contractors will begin their portion following Fuller. Lister-Sage board is having a raffle beginning in August, ending on October 10th with an Oktoberfest celebration at the community hall. The tickets will be $50/each with $20,000 in prizes. A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Reed to approve the 2015-2016 fee schedule. Three new families have been in and are opting to enroll in our district. A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Kearns to approve the 2015-2016 student handbook as presented. A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Kearns to approve the purchase of the new grammar books for grades 6-12. A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Kearns to approve bills & payroll as presented in the amount of: $144,464.33 payroll and $63,262.77 – bills.. A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Kearns to go into executive session at 8:24 p.m. for the purposes of discussing personnel. Hunzeker repeated the motion. A motion was made by Reed and seconded by Kearns to return to open session at 9:39 p.m. A motion was made by Langford and seconded by Kearns to adjourn the meeting at 9:40 p.m.
