The meeting was called to order by Mayor Chris Heiser at 6:00 p.m. as per the Municipal Code of the City of Rushville, Sheridan County, NE. Notice of the meeting was given by publication in the Sheridan County Journal Star on July 20, 2016 as required by law and delivered to the Council in person. Present: Snyder, Jansen, Willnerd. The following motions were duly made, seconded and passed.
1. To approve, accept and ratify the following items listed under the consent agenda: Council minutes of the July meeting and the July Treasurer’s Report.
2. Approved $250.00 per month to City of Gordon for support of the police dog on a year to year basis beginning October 1, 2016.
3. Approved appointment of Nancy Strong to the Cemetery Board.
4. In none agenda items Diana Robbins requested noting motions when the Council goes into executive session be put in published council minutes. Diana Robbins also asked if there was a public workshop for City department budget development. She was informed that there are no public workshops for budgets. The mayor advised that three bids that have been submitted for the roof of the Assisted Living building that will be discussed at a later date.
The Council discussed Tobacco Free Resolution #2016-03. Because of the broad area this is to cover, the Council tabled it at this time in order to give it further consideration.
The Student Liaison was discussed. There was no action taken at this time.
The Park Board was present to discuss cleaning up the corner of ball field and tree trimming in the City Park. There was no action taken at this time.
The Feasibility Study for the new swimming pool was discussed. There are eight steps in the Study. Council approval is needed to start step 2 with the cost of $1950.00. Council tabled the matter at this time until the Sink or Swim committee presents their concensus.
The City Boards will meet as follows: Ambulance Board September 13, 2016; Park Board September 19, 2016; Cemetery Board September 20, 2016; Library Board September 20, 2016.
