The Sheridan County Commissioners met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Paul stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act a copy of which is available on the guest desk. Andersen made a motion to accept the agenda. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye. Krotz made a motion to approve the minutes of 8-13-2018. Andersen seconded the motion. All voted aye.
The board signed claim checks and audited and approved salary claims.
County Attorney Jamian Simmons and Clerk of the District Court Carol Stouffer met with the board to finalize the signing of the sub-grant agreements for child support with Department of Health and Human Services. Krotz made a motion to authorize the chairman of the board to sign the agreement. Andersen seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
Road Superintendent Tom Kuester showed the board pictures of the new elevated road surface on Pleasant Point Road. The rising water table has caused the road to be under water for much of the summer. Commissioner Paul stated that he has heard good feed-back from residents.
The board discussed a road closure request. Andersen made a motion to approve Resolution #2018-15 directing the Road Superintendent to do a road closure study on one mile of 580th Road West off of 420th Lane. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board reviewed the tax requests from the Miscellaneous Districts. Andersen made a motion to approve Resolution #2018-16 authorizing the allocation of real and personal property tax to the following subdivisions:
Sheridan County Agricultural Society-$65,000; Sheridan County Historical Society-$9,530; Road Improvement District #31-$5,714.04; Road Improvement District #33-$10,258; Road Improvement District #36-$4,060. Krotz seconded the motion. With a roll call vote all voted aye.
The board briefly discussed the 2018-19 budget. They are currently waiting for the second draft for review.
Extension Educator, Jack Arterburn informed the board about two upcoming events. Stockmanship Clinic August 27-28 and a Sheep and Goat Educational Meeting on September 6.
