The Sheridan County Commissioners met in regular session at 9 A.M. in the Commissioners Office, Courthouse. All members present. Paul stated that the meeting would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Nebraska Open Meeting Act. Krotz made a motion to accept the agenda. Messersmith seconded the motion. All voted aye. Messersmith made a motion to approve the minutes of 3-18-2019. Krotz seconded the motion. All voted aye.
The board signed salary checks.
The board participated in the annual County Government Day Program. This program is sponsored by the American Legion.
Road Superintendent Tom Kuester reported on the continuing efforts to restore flood damaged roads. The assessment of damage to roads and bridges is ongoing so an estimate of costs is not available. Disaster recovery funds, if approved, could take many months to be distributed out to the county.
Kuester reported that he is looking to hire some outside help. Kuester is also worried about available materials such as dirt and gravel. Kuester informed the board that his department is working on Collector roads and Creek roads first.
Treasurer Renee Thies and Assessor Tina Skinner met with the board to discuss how to deal with a tax issue on a recent sale of property that now needs to be divided out. It was decided to bring the issue back to the Board of Equalization and do a correction sheet from the Assessor.
The board reviewed a contract with Kone Inc for service and inspection on the lift, located on the North entrance of the Courthouse. No action taken at this time.
