On Sunday, July 2 the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 4:40 a.m. about a single-vehicle rollover accident on Highway 87.
According to the police report, Troylin Kay Pourier, of Pine Ridge, S.D., was traveling on Highway 87 approximately 12 mi. north of Highway 20 or about 7 mi. south of Whiteclay. She was intoxicated and lost control of the vehicle. When a Sheriff’s officer arrived, witnesses did not indicate if seat belts were in use.
Pourier told the officer she did not want to go to the hospital, but the officer persisted. When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they transported her to Pine Ridge Hospital for a leg and head injury. Pourier was later transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital. Monday afternoon, the sheriff’s office received information that Pourier had passed away on July 5.
