Pucker up! GRHS teacher Gatlin Mack has to “Kiss a Pig”

By Tessa Hurlburt, GRHS Journalism Student

On Wednesday, March 30, a winner was determined for the Kiss a Pig scholarship by the Gordon-Rushville Future Farmers of America chapter.

Each year, money is raised by the staff and students for a member of the staff to kiss a pig. Once the fundraiser is closed, a member of the senior class at the Gordon-Rushville High School is drawn to receive the money that was raised.

The pig, donated by Mr. Russell Stoker this year, was brought into the gym for the Pep Rally.

Mr. Gatlin Mack, the Physical Education teacher and Track and Cross Country coach at G-R, was deemed the winner.

Students and staff at the high school had donated $118.77 to see Mr. Mack kiss the pig.

After the smooch and the dozens of videos and photos taken to capture this moment, the winner of the money was drawn. Shawna Shadbolt received the money from the fundraiser, which Shadbolt will be able to use for her plans after graduation.
