Security First Regulator Logan Slama makes it official, will join Concordia’s Baseball Program in the Fall

Gordon-Rushville senior Logan Slama put pen to paper this past week, inking his signature and setting his future plans in motion.

Slama signed his Letter of Intent to play collegiate baseball at Concordia University in Seward, Neb.

Slama, who has played football, basketball, and golf in his career as a Mustang, has spent his summers patrolling the infield for the Security First Regulators.

The Regulators are a Class C American Legion baseball team comprised of athletes from Sheridan County, Neb. and Pine Ridge, S.D.

Slama will join the Concordia Baseball Program who have won three straight Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Regular Season championships and 2 Postseason GPAC Championships.

Concordia is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The Bulldogs have advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for four straight years, with a qualification for the NAIA World Series in 2021 and finishing just one game away from a berth in 2022.

Bulldog Head Coach Ryan Dupic is proud of what his teams at Concordia have accomplished in recent years and he looks to continue that success in the future.

“Our goals this year are to maximize our team to the best of our ability, enjoy the experiences, and make progress as we pursue more championship-level performances,” said Dupic.

As far as the addition to Slama to his roster, Coach Dupic is ready for the Gordon native to get started in his program.

“Logan is a good kid that comes from a great family and he has a strong passion to play baseball in college,” said Dupic.

“Our expectations for Logan are for him to continue to be a great teammate and progress as a person, student, and baseball player. He is a good athlete who I think will transition to college baseball in a positive way with a great attitude,” he added.

Slama’s impact is yet to be seen at the collegiate level but for Security First Regulator Head Coach Rob Close, he has seen the impact his shortstop can have a program for 4 years and counting.

“Logan Slama has been a valued member of our program since he was in the eighth grade,” said Close.

“We are extremely proud of Logan and his accomplishments and know that he will continue with his hard work and will become an outstanding collegiate baseball player in the future,” he added.

Slama will graduate from Gordon-Rushville High School in May and will enroll at Concordia this August.
