On Friday, March 10, 2023 the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant in the 300th block of Main Street in Rushville.
As a result of the search warrant, Duprai Johnson was arrested and charged on five separate counts.
Inside the home and a vehicle owned by Johnson, multiple items were found to indicate drug trafficking by the Sheriff’s Department.
19.5 grams of methamphetamine and 1 ounce of marijuana were seized in the search, along with cash, a electronic scale, and small baggies.
Inside the home at the time, two minor children were also present and it was noted that layout of the domicile would have put the children in a position of having access to the narcotics.
The five counts that Johnson will now face are listed as follows:
Count 1 - Possession of Exceptionally Hazardous Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) with Intent to Deliver within 1,000 feet of a School, a Class 1C felony.
Count 2 - Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class IV Felony
Count 3 - Child Abuse, a Class IIIA Felony
Count 4 - Possession of Marijuana One Ounce or Less, a Infraction
Count 5 - Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Infraction
The defendant appeared in Sheridan County Court on Thursday, March 23. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
