On June 9, Senator Al Davis of Hyannis notified the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency and Governor Pete Ricketts of the serious flooding situation developing in portions of Dawes, Sioux and Sheridan Counties, and requested any possible disaster assistance for the communities there. On June 4, Lusk, Wyoming was hit with heavy precipitation and flash flooding as the Niobrara River spilled out of its banks and washed out highways, bridges and culverts. Two days later, rural communities down the river in Sioux County, Nebraska, saw severe flooding as the river rose, washing out county roads and closing several river crossings. Areas along the White River in Northwest Nebraska also faced road and river crossing closures over the weekend.
