Fire Activity Remains Light

While the recent rain dampened some areas, warmer, drier weather is in the forecast.  Officials ask the public to exercise an extra measure of caution, and practice heightened fire safety at all times.
Red Shirt
Firefighters responded to one wildfire late Friday evening near Red Shirt, South Dakota, on the Buffalo National Grassland, a unit of the Nebraska National Forest and Grasslands.  This 36-acre fire was located three miles northwest of Red Shirt, and had several engines and a 20-person Hotshot Crew working the fire.  It was burning mostly in grass and juniper in rocky-badland topography. As of this report the fire is 100 percent contained.
