LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is accepting grant applications for projects that promote outdoor recreation.
The grant money comes from the U.S. Land and Water Conservation Fund. Among the eligible projects are baseball fields, soccer fields, swimming pools, picnic facilities, playgrounds and shelter houses.
Projects sponsors must be political subdivisions, such as counties or cities. The fund provides reimbursable matching grants for up to 50 percent of the project costs.
The commission says applicants should contact Schuyler Sampson at 402-471-5283 or schuyler.sampson(at)nebraska.gov to request an application form, instructions and additional information.
Applications must be submitted by Oct. 1. Approved grants will be announced in January.
