Chadron State College/NCAA Investigation Completed-Awaits NCAA Review

(Lincoln, NE) The Nebraska State College System (NSCS) announced today that an investigation by Chadron State College (CSC) and the NCAA enforcement staff regarding possible infractions in the football program at CSC has been completed, and that CSC has sent its report of the investigation to the NCAA and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for review.
Last fall, CSC self-reported possible NCAA violations relating to unauthorized checking accounts opened by former CSC head football coach Bill O’Boyle and invited the NCAA enforcement staff to work cooperatively with the College to investigate the possible violations.
According to NSCS Chancellor Stan Carpenter, CSC and System Office personnel cooperated with the enforcement staff to thoroughly investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding the possible infractions.
“I want to thank the Chadron State College administration, staff and student-athletes for their cooperation with the investigators. As a member of the NCAA, we have high standards of integrity and excellence to follow, and I’m completely satisfied that our institution has lived up to that standard by self-reporting concerns and following through with this investigation,” Carpenter said.
Carpenter said that the College’s investigative report is being forwarded today to NCAA officials for review. Consistent with NCAA enforcement procedure, the enforcement staff will review the report and determine whether to issue a Notice of Allegations. The report is available to the public online at the Chadron State College website and the Nebraska State College System website:
“I’m confident that our goal of moving CSC athletic programs forward in a positive manner is being accomplished. Our primary focus has always been, and will continue to be, to provide quality academic and extra-curricular programs to benefit our students,” Carpenter said.
The investigation was conducted by the law firm of Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP in cooperation with officials from the NCAA. Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP is nationally recognized as a leader in NCAA rules infractions and compliance matters.
The Nebraska State College System serves nearly 9000 students through three geographically diverse institutions. Combined, the three Colleges offer more than 200 degree, certificate and pre-professional programs that are accessible on the campuses, via the Internet and in several locations throughout the state.
