Steve Andrew Nielson, 42, of Gordon, Nebraska went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 27, 2013 at the Scottsbluff Regional West Medical Center. His many friends and family were there to say their goodbyes as he drifted off to his heavenly home.
Steve was born to Jonathan Nielson of Ellsworth, NE and Dottie Gentry of North Platte, NE on June 13, 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Gordon High School, Gordon, NE and went on to attend Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, NE. Steve was married to his sweetheart, Sami A Nielson on September 24, 2012 and was currently working at Farmers Coop, Gordon, NE.
Steve’s lifelong love was ranching. He loved being out in the Sandhills of Nebraska on a horse working cattle. There wasn’t anything Steve couldn’t do. If he didn’t know how he would learn. He touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. You won’t find anyone that knew him that doesn’t have a story to tell about Steve. He loved life and knew no boundaries. His entire life was one of Service. If a neighbor was laid up or needed help Steve was always there for them. They wouldn’t even need to ask. He would just be there. He belonged to the Hyannis Volunteer Fire Department for years and was always there when needed. Steve was a member of the Hyannis Masonic Lodge.
Steve was survived by his wife, Sami A. Nielson, Gordon, NE; two beautiful children, Triston, 16, and Sydney, 13, Whitman, NE; siblings – Jeff Robb (Bambi), Cheyenne, WY, Jarrod Nielson (Kellee), Wallace, NE, Sarah Larson (Marvin), North Platte, NE, Hazy Nielson, Ellsworth, NE and Tyler Nielson, Ellsworth, NE; Parents – Jonathan and Trenda Nielson, Ellsworth, NE, Vic and Dottie Gentry, North Platte, NE and Scott Robb, Topeka, KS; grandparents – Opal Nielson, Gordon, NE, Winifred Robb, Butler, MO and John Gentry, North Platte, NE; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
