Richard J. Michaelson, 89, passed away on Feb. 10, 2013.
Richard was born on April 13, 1923 in Sheridan County, Neb. to Oscar and Minnie (Johnson) Michaelson. He graduated from Rushville High School in 1941 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the Navy where he served as a Naval Signalman in the Pacific theater of WW2.
Richard married Lucille Lehman on Jan. 4, 1946, and they resided in the Panama Canal Zone where Richard was a civilian employee of the Navy. They welcomed three sons, Ken, Rod and Terry while in Panama. Then in 1952 they returned to the Michaelson family farm North of Rushville where Richard had grown up. Farming was his passion. He raised his family on the farm and continued farming and actively participating in community boards and committees until he retired.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Rushville, NE on Feb. 13, at 10:00am.
Burial with Military Honors will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Rushville, Nebraska. Following the service a lunch for family and friends will be held in the Fellowship Hall.
