Viola Norma Preuss was born June 21, 1917 in McCook, Nebraska, to Albert and Anna Johnson. She spent her years growing up in Gordon. Later she moved with her parents to Spokane, Wash, followed by a marriage to Merle Preuss, the son of Hatie and Carl Preuss also of Gordon.
She formed her own drapery business from the early fifties until she and Merle retired and moved to Glasgow, KY. where they resided for seven years after which they moved to Loveland, CO. for approximately 5 years before moving their residence to Sun City, AZ.
Merle died in 2000, and Viola lived alone until being moved to the Highland Park Care Center in Alliance, Nebr., until her death March 4, 2013.
Viola is survived by her daughter Janice Marie Karnes of Ark. and Marvin Carl Preuss of West Chicago, Ill., three grandchildren, Marnie Jean Preuss of Arlington Heights, Ill., Julie Ann Ogle of Collinsville, Ill. and Kevin Karnes, the son of Janice. Two great-grandchildren Blake and Colin Ogle of Collinsville, Ill., the sons of Mike and Julie Ogle.
Graveside services were held Friday March 8, 2013, at the Gordon Cemetery, Gordon, Nebraska, with Rev. Martin T. Schnare and Rev. Richard Mueller officiating.
Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
