Thelma Joan Henry, 86, of Rushville, Nebraska passed away on April 27, 2012, at Chadron Community Hospital. She was born August 20, 1925 in Harrison, Nebraska to Bernard and Hilda (Rosenberg) Norman. She was raised north of Crawford near Sugarloaf on the family ranch. She attended rural school through the eighth grade, High school in Harrison, Nebraska and one year at Chadron Normal School, now Chadron State College. She taught at rural school from 1944 through 1948.
In 1945, she married Raymond M. Henry. They resided north of Crawford until the fall of 1948. They trailed their small herd of cattle to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. They lived there till 2005 when they moved to Rushville.
To this union, three sons were born, Raymond Michael Henry Jr. and wife Bonita of Edgemont, South Dakota, E. Patrick Henry and wife Leslie of Pine Ridge, South Dakota, and Timothy A. Henry and wife Lynn of Halsey, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray; her parents Ben and Hilda; Brothers Elmer, Andrew, Gilbert, Bernard, Earl and Don. Her survivors include her children; her Sister, Evelyn Raben; Sister-in-law Evaline Norman and Lillie Norman, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.
Funeral services for Thelma Henry of Rushville, Nebraska will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Crawford with Father James Joseph and Father Tim Stoner officiating. Burial will be at the Crawford Cemetery. A vigil will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Rushville.
