Paul Hartley Ewart

Paul Hartley Ewart was born July s”. 1917 in Iowa to Charles M. (John) and Esther Ewart. He

died April 9th, 2014 at Pineview Good Samaritan Center in Valentine, Nebraska at the age of 96.

In 1921 the Ewart family moved to a home south of Cody, Nebraska. Paul was one of 5 children, having 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Paul attended country school near Cody. Paul lived through the depression and It made a significant impact on him. He loved to ride horses, and enjoyed raising cattle. He dearly loved to hunt coyotes. He had some fine hunting dogs.

Whenever someone visited, he loved to get out the pictures and show them off.

The family ranch was sold in April of 2004. Paul and his brother Bill moved to an apartment in Valentine. Paul was very Independent. He enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center but still missed the Cody community and the home he had lived in. Paul and Bill, due to health reasons eventually had to move to an assisted living facility. They enjoyed their time together there until Paul broke his hip and was moved to the Good Samaritan Rest home. Bill soon joined him and they again both enjoyed each other’s company until Bill died April 17th, 2013.

Paul continued his life at the rest home still missing his life at the ranch, the animals, the river, friends and family until his death. Paul is survived by his two nephews Max and Bob and their children. We will miss his smile and pleasant nature.

Funeral service for Paul Ewart will be held Saturday, April 12,  at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine, NE. Pastor Corey Jenkins officiated at the 10:00 AM service. Burial followed at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Cody, NE.

Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
