Yvonne Parks of Gordon, Neb., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Country Side Care in Gordon, Neb.
Yvonne was born on Nov. 18, 1937, to Earl and Laura (Dean) Forster in Gordon Neb. She was raised on the family farm. She attended Pleasant Hill school and graduated from Gordon High school in 1956.
On Nov. 3, 1957, Yvonne was married to her one and only Joseph Paul Parks Jr. Within their marriage, she and Joseph had 9 children who they loved dearly. The family lived in Kadoka and Edgemont, S.D., until Joseph passed in 1969. Yvonne then returned to Gordon to raise her children. She resided in Gordon until her death.
Some of Yvonne’s favorite times were spent at the bowling alley either working or bowling. She enjoyed being a member of the women’s Traveling League. She was also employed for many years at the Western Café where everyone became fond of her friendliness and wonderful cooking.
Yvonne always welcomed others into her home. She was a caring loving mother, grandmother and friend. Yvonne was “Mom” or “Grammy” to many. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. She will be dearly missed.
Yvonne is survived in death by her children – Vonnie Schwaderer, Gordon, Neb., Janice Alexander, Crawford, Neb., Paul (Ronda) Parks, Owanka, S.D., Kristi (Jeff) Driscoll, Orlando, Fla., Andrea Parks, Rapid City, S.D., daughter-in-law Debbie Parks, Rushville, Neb., Larry Parks, Box Elder, S.D., and Ruby (Keith Sr.) Wolkins, Gordon, Neb. Grandchildren – Marti, Lori, Clifford, Bobbie, Sarah, Jennifer, Amanda, Kimberly, Kevin, Samantha, Jeremy, Courtney, Colbi, Keith and 19 great-grandchildren. Siblings Barbara Stevens of Tulsa, Okla., Darlene Caves of Collinsville, Okla., Melvin Forster of Gordon, Neb., and Wendel Forster of Albuquerque, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, both of her parents, her infant daughter Mary as well as her son Jerry, granddaughter Crystal and her 3 children, and her son-in-law Mark.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at the Wesleyan Gospel Chapel in Gordon, Neb. at 10 a.m. Visitation was on Sunday, November 19, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A memorial has been set up for the Gordon Volunteer Rescue Squad and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366 Gordon, NE 69343.
