Virginia “ Ginger” K. Petersen Ginger was born Oct. 3, 1948, to Richard W. Kline and Elsie A. Rath. Ginger was the youngest of four children. Ginger passed away May 22, 2018, at her home.
Ginger was born in Rushville where she lived until her family moved to Grafton, Neb. Ginger spent many years going back and forth between Grafton and Rushville. She loved to spend time with her cousins (Ann, Ted, Amy Jo, Gene and Jim) on the Niobrara River, milking and working cows and swimming in the river.
On Sept. 4, 1970, Ginger married Dennis Petersen. To this marriage came 2 girls. Ginger was a stay at home mom until her girls got to high school. For the last few years, Ginger has worked at the Rushville Public Library.
Ginger was proceeded in death by her mother, Elsie Griffin, father, Richard Kline, step-father Thomas Griffin, brother Ronald Kline, sister Dorothy Kline and sister Betty Lakatos.
Ginger is survived by her husband Dennis Petersen, daughters Kathy (Steve) Weber and Dela (Petersen) DeSersa and six grandchildren: Luke Retzlaff, Amaya DeSersa, Leah Weber, Sam DeSersa, Sara Weber and Evan DeSersa and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, May 29, 2018, 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Rushville, Neb.
A memorial has been established for the Rushville Public Library or the Rushville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Unit and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366 Gordon, NE 69343.
