Charlotte A. Bruce, of Ithaca, NY, died on 25 July of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 91 years old.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Charlotte worked in test kitchens for Hines-Park Foods and for the Cornell University poultry-science department as a product developer. During the 1970s and 1980s, she served as Adult Education Coordinator for Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Ithaca. An accomplished cook, she taught advanced cookery courses for Cornell’s Adult University. Later, she was an enthusiastic volunteer for Loaves and Fishes, and for the Family Reading Partnership.
She was predeceased by her husband, Prof. Robert L. Bruce, originally from Gordon, NE, and by a daughter, Ann Lynn. She is survived by her son, Thomas, and daughter-in-law Judith Pratt. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Dean (Neva) Bruce and Bill (Anita) Bruce.
Donations in her name can be made to Loaves and Fishes. A memorial service will take place during the first week of October, at a time and place to be announced.
