Craig Bannerman, age 72, died July 31, 2019, in Leesburg, Fla. Craig is survived by a sister LaRee Bannerman, N.Y, five children: Beau Douglas Bannerman, Calif., Bree Ahna Bannerman, Ga., Bret Michael Bannerman, Mass., Cory Anthony Bannerman, Ga., and Todd Anthony Bannerman, Fla., and two granddaughters: Olivia Bannerman, Wash., and Talia Elise Bannerman, Calif. Craig was preceded in death by his mother Bernadien Tiensvold Bannerman Pochon, father Anthony Bannerman and his step father George Pochon; grandparents Isabel and Ferdinand Tiensvold and Anthony and Rachel Bannerman.
Craig was from Rushville, Neb., and was in the Navy from 1966 to 1969, during the Vietnam War. He served as a sonar technician on the submarines USS Whale and the USS Trutta. He was a Petty Officer second class. His artistic abilities were often utilized for drawings and paintings for the ship’s use.
A military memorial is being planned at a later date in Rushville, Neb., his home that he loved. He was also a man of the sea, the family has designated the charity “Save The Whales” in honor of Craig Bannerman for memorial contributions.
