David Allen Parker, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on February 17, 2023, with invasive/terminal cancer at the age of 83.
Dave was born to Allen and Helen Parker on September 10, 1939, at the Gregg Place near Gordon, Neb. and grew up on the Cross L Ranch with his older brother Howard and younger brother Larry (Pike). After graduating from Gordon High School, he moved from the ranch to Albuquerque, N.M. in 1958 to work for the home builder Fred Mossman (a grade school friend of Allen). On July 12, 1959, Dave and Rosalyn Cobb were married and lived in Albuquerque for over 60 years where they raised two daughters, June Ann and Janette Lynn.
In 1968, Dave formed his own construction company, Parker – Gooden, Inc. and in 1986, Dave’s reloading ammunition hobby became a small arms ammunition manufacturing business. After a successful career as an entrepreneur, Dave retired in 2005.
Dave enjoyed various hobbies and loved to share them and his sense of humor with his family and friends. Motorcycle dirt bike riding and Enduro dirt bike competitions being a favorite with Dave supplying his wife and daughters with all the gear, motorcycles, and exciting rides for many years. He also participated in Single Action Shooting Society pre-1900’s Colts and Winchesters competitions. His most memorable event was when Janette participated in a competition with him and won best, most authentic costume, wearing her great-grandmother Lillie Turnbull’s wedding dress. And, he appreciated vintage cars, especially his 1957 red Lincoln convertible.
Dave had a special interest in guitars, and music was part of his life for as long as he could remember with his dad, mom, brothers and the 1950’s “Sunset Ranch Boys”. He enjoyed this hobby all through retirement and played the guitar, the banjo or the ukelele for and with his kids, grandkids, great-grandson and extended family whenever there was a gathering.
Dave is survived by his wife Rosalyn; daughters – June (Ralph) D’Amour and Janette (Jon) Brown; grandchildren – Renee (Jesse) Carmichael, Kelly (Logan Napolsky) D’Amour, Mallory Martinez and Wesley Martinez; great-grandson - Asher D’Amour Napolsky; brother – Pike (Dian) Parker; sisters-in law Cherrill Cobb, Carolyn (Michael) Wind and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Helen, brother Howard, father and mother-in-law William and Maxine Cobb, and brothers-in-law Gary and Wayne Cobb.
A Celebration of Dave’s Life was held on August 5, 2023 on the Niobrara River at the Cross L Ranch.
