Wendy Etuk

Wendy Ann (Vodicka) Etuk, 64, was born on January 2, 1959, in Gordon, Neb. She went to her heavenly home on August 24, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.

Wendy was very much a farm girl, loving all aspects of farm life. She was an excellent trumpet player and was active in the Green Valley 4-H club. She attended elementary school in Rushville and graduated from Rushville High School in 1977. Wendy went on to further her education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she met and married Effiok ‘‘Ben” Etuk. They were married in Council Bluffs, IA on October 17, 1977. Together they had two sons, Benjamin Edward and Jonathon Effiok.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tommy and Marie McKinnon and Ed and Jennie Vodicka.

Wendy is survived by her husband, Effiok Etuk of Hot Springs, S.D.; her parents, Edward and Glenna Vodicka of Rushville, Neb.; brother, Joe (Elizabeth) Vodicka of St. Ong, S.D.; sister, Jan (Greg) Niemack of Loveland, Colo., sons, Benjamin (Louise) Etuk of Santa Fe, N.M.; Jonathon Etuk of Espanola, N.M..  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ashley, Emma, Sidney, Benny, Jonus, Abby, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A memorial has been set up benefiting C.A.R.E.

Committal services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Rushville Cemetery in Rushville, Neb.
