Virginia E. Harris Hugen

Virginia Harris Hugen, 78, of Gordon, Nebraska died August 30, 2012 at Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

She was born June 1, 1934, in Gordon, Nebraska to Tug and Josephine Palmer. She graduated from Gordon High School and on March 9, 1955 she married Donald Harris. Five sons were born to this union. Donald died September 18, 1876. Virginia then married Bennie Hugen on September 11, 2003.

Virginia spent most of her life in Gordon raising her 5 sons. She enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives. She also enjoyed dancing and spending time with her grandchildren. Virginia was a care giver to the elderly and a Legion Auxiliary member.

Preceding her in death were her parents Tug and Josephine Palmer, her first husband Donald L. Harris, sister Helen Curry and brothers Buck Palmer, Donald Palmer, Jim Palmer, Ted Palmer and Jack Palmer. Her survivors include husband Bennie L. Hugen of Gordon, her sons Steven L (Marni) Harris of Glenwood, IA, Warren R.(Cindy) Harris of Idaho Falls, ID, Scott B. (Trudy) Harris of Minneola, KS, Douglas W. (Michele) Harris of Sioux City, IA and Jason R. Harris of Gordon, 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 5 step children, 2 sisters; Hope Fankhauser and Shirley Musfelt and brother; Gary Palmer.

Grave Side Services were held Saturday September 1, 2012, 10:00am at the Gordon Cemetery, with Reverend Al Trucano officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Harris, Randy Harris, Scott Harris, Doug Harris, Jason Harris and Bennie Hugen.

Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
