Robert "Bob" Ehlers of Benson, Arizona, passed away on August 2, 2012, at the age of 77.
Bob was born in Gordon, Nebraska, on July 30, 1935, to George and Phyllis Sipp. He attended country school in the Sandhills until his family moved to Warroad in 1948. He was a 1952 graduate of Warroad High School before serving in the United States Army for approximately nine years.
Bob met and married his wife, Janet, while stationed at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. They lived in the Grand Canyon state raising their two children, Wesley and Renee, until 1978 when the family moved to Warroad.
Bob was employed at Marvin Windows and Doors until his retirement in 2000. Thereafter, he and Janet moved back to Arizona to delight in a warmer climate. It was in Benson that Bob spent his time woodworking in his shop and raising a healthy garden.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet; son, Wesley (Debra) of Harlingen, Texas; daughter, Renee (Kevin) Sanders of Sahuarita, Ariz.; grandchildren, Katie Ehlers of Harlingen, Texas, Nick Toso of Warroad, Megan Toso of Warroad and Kyle (Cassandra) Sanders of Oceanside, California; and siblings, Jack (Becky) Ehlers of Warroad, Carrie Sue (Jim) Hamlin of Warroad and Rockford Ehlers of Landover, Maryland.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, George and Phyllis Ehlers; and infant brother, Wesley.
A memorial service was held at the Presbyterian Church in Benson, Arizona. Bob was put to rest at the Southern Arizona Veterans Cemetery in Sierra Vista.
