Edward (Ed) S. Novak of Martin, SD died on July 8, 2018 at Rapid City Regional Hospital due to complications of lung disease.

He was born August 1, 1935 at their home north of Batesland, SD to Ernest and Lillian Novak. He began his farming career as a young boy growing up on the family farm. He attended grade school at Swett, SD, then went on to graduate from Bennett County High School enjoying playing sports all along the way.

Funeral services for Edythe Russell of Chadron, Nebraska will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00AM at the Gordon City Cemetery, with Doctor Russ Seger officiating.

Mrs. Russell passed away on July 5, 2018 at Crestview Care Center in Chadron, Nebraska. Edythe was born May 13, 1945. She was 73.

Katherine (Schott) Hassan of Rushville, Neb., passed away on June 27, 2018, at the age of 94.

Katherine was born on Oct. 3, 1923, in La Junta, Colo., to George and Katherine Margaret Schott. Her father died in August 1930 and after her mother passed away in November 1936, Katherine went to live with her oldest sister, Mary Heinzman, until she graduated from La Junta High School in 1941.

Marty Joe Hugen took to the sky on June 21, 2018, freeing his soul and ending his final journey with cancer. He was born Feb. 1, 1962, in Gordon, Neb., to Bennie and Norma (Deckert) Hugen. Jimmy W. Larson

Jimmy Wayne Larson was born May 10, 1946, to Julia and Jim Larson. He was the seventh child with three brothers, Paul, Lon, Donnie and four sisters, Janice, Laura, Judy and later Jeannie. He passed away June 4, 2018, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home.

He grew up and attended school in the Rushville area and graduated in 1964. He enlisted in the US Army in October of 1964. He was deployed to Korea and was discharged in 1967.

Darius Maltbie of Gordon, NE, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 23rd 2018.  Darius was born on April 19, 1944 in Boise City, Oklahoma to parents Charley and Wauneta Maltbie.  Darius grew up in Boise City and graduated from Boise City High School in 1962.

Bonny Wayve Ehlers-Evans, aged 91, passed away on June 10th at Pioneer Manor in Hay Spring, NE after dealing with health complications due to a stroke.  Bonny was born June 17th, 1926 in Lavaca, NE, the daughter of Adolph Ehlers and Carrie Bell Phillipee.  She was the eighth of nine children.

Gail K. (Brown) August was born on Jan. 13, 1948, to Robert and Lucille Brown. She passed away on June 5, 2018, at the age of 70 years unexpectedly but peacefully in her home.

She married Gary August on Aug. 26, 1967. They were blessed with two children, Alan and Julie, and two grandchildren, Emma and Jake. She loved spending time with her family, being outdoors, and horses.
