Doris Green passed away at the age of 101 on October 19, 2011 at Silver Maples Retirement Community in Chelsea, Michigan. She was born September 17, 1910 in Mitchell, Nebraska, the daughter of Earl Warren and Maude (Hewett) Collins.

Kathryn Hansen Hayes was born February 21st 1923 in Gordon, NE. She passed away peacefully in her home in Seal Beach, CA, October 11, 2011. Her husband, Joseph Hayes had preceded her, leaving her to live alone for the last two years.

Harry E. Christensen, 61, of Hay Springs, passed away Sept. 20, 2011, at the Fort Meade VA Center in Sturgis S. D.

He was born Oct. 13, 1949 in Gordon, NE, to Harry and Bessie Christensen. He grew up in Hay Springs, attending Grade School and High School. Grace Donker, 79, of Chadron, NE, died early Saturday morning, August 20, 2011, at Prairie Pines Lodge.

She was born December 28, 1931, at the home of her parents, Dick and Anna Luurs, outside Platte, SD. She was born the fifth of eight children.

Dale Eugene Piper was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Gordon, Neb., to G.R “Sam” and Frances Piper.

Dale grew up in the sandhills with his three brothers: Glen, Wayne and Blaine, also known as Red and Whitie.  Just imagine having the sandhills of Nebraska as your backyard.  It has been told there were few “blowouts”, windmills, lakes or meadows that have not been explored by the “Piper boys.”
