Lorraine Beguin Kutschara passed away at Pioneer Manor on September 27, 2011, at the age of 93.

Lorraine was born in a one room house March 28, 1918, to John and Marie Lorenzen or rural Rushville. She had an older sister Irene and a younger sister Bonnie. Esther V. Bleakly, 94, longtime Cherokee, Iowa resident, passed away Friday morning, September 30, 2011 in the Gordon Memorial Hospital in Gordon.

Esther was the daughter of C.W. and Mary Anne (Donaldson) Johnson of Forsyth, Montana. She was born September 16, 1917 in Forsyth, Mont. She graduated from Forsyth High School in 1937. She attended Albany College, Albany, Ore., and Oregon State College, Corvallis, Ore.

Mrs. Housh, 87, passed away on October 7, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Bette was born on August 11, 1924, in Dawes County, Nebraska.

Funeral services for Bette Housh of Hay Springs were held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at United Methodist Church in Hay Springs with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating. Burial was at the Hay Springs Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service was Monday, October 10 at the United Methodist Fellowship Hall.

Florence Esther Hebbert, 96, of Sterling, died Oct. 7, 2011, in Sterling.

Mrs. Hebbert was born June 26, 1915, in Cherry County, Neb., to George A. and Freida (Mohr) Ostrander. She graduated from high school in Rushville, Neb., in 1932. She graduated from Colorado State College in Greeley in 1962.

Kathy L. Mohr, 54, of Gordon, Neb., died Thursday October 13, 2011, at her home. After fighting a valiant fight against cancer for 85 days, the Lord chose to take her home.

She was born February 21, 1957, in Gordon, Neb., to Jim and Audrey Benedickt. The family lived between Kyle, S.D., where her parents ranched, and Gordon, Neb., where the children attended school. Melvin Clifford Davis passed away at his home in Silverton, Oregon, just one day after celebrating his 85th Birthday.

Melvin was born to Clifford and Josephine Davis at the home of his Grandfather, Arnold Perters, located south of Hay Springs near the Niobrara River. He was raised south of Rushville near Pine Creek. He received his elementary education at the Mill School and then attended Rushville High School. Davis graduated as his class Valedictorian in 1943.

Alice (Grant) Dodson

Born Alice Grant in the Sand Hills region of Nebraska on Oct. 21, 1922, Alice moved on to a better world Oct. 3, 2011.

She remained in Nebraska throughout her youth, and during the war she spent time working in a munitions factory. She married Lauren Dodson on June 18, 1942. After a few stops, they settled in the Spokane Valley, where they raised their boys: Gary, Jim and Doug. They moved to the Post Falls home in 1974.

After Lauren passed in 1980, Alice remained on the farm in Post Falls
