Donald Dwain Adam passed away on March 21, 2019, at his home in Dallas, Texas, due to complications of Alzheimer’s. During his fight with Alzheimer’s, he provided information that allowed one of the primary research groups to chart his daily routine, medications, supplements, and how his body was reacting during the progress of the disease. Dave Hatch

David Dean Hatch was born in Gordon, Nebraska, on August 22, 1945, to Earnest and Mildred Hatch. He passed away April 19, 2019, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was the eighth child of nine. He spent his early childhood at the family farm helping out with the cows and sheep, and he and some siblings rode horseback to the country school. Later, he attended Gordon High School.

Donald Baldwin

Donald Baldwin, age 82, passed away on February 12, 2019, at Countryside Care in Gordon, Nebraska.

Donald was born in North Platte, Nebraska on June 14, 1936, to Thomas Clinton Mullin Baldwin and Grace Ruth Sheldon Baldwin. Donald attended 1st through 5th grade in North Platte, Nebraska, and 6th grade at Washington School in Casper, Wyoming.

At the age of 16, Donald had his first job working for Judd Tire. He worked there for 20 years. At the age of 36, Donald moved to Longmont, Colorado, and

Betty Loraine (Moore) Erny

Betty Loraine (Moore) Erny passed away on Good Friday April 19, 2019, at Highland Park Care Center.

Betty was born on November 23, 1931, in Gordon, Nebraska, to Leo and Mabel Helen (Wamsley) Moore. She spent most of her life in the Nebraska Sandhills around Gordon and Mullen, spending her later years in Alliance.

Her special hobbies were gardening, painting, and crocheting, of which she made many lovely blankets, tablecloths, and potholders for her family.

She enjoyed being around people


Vera Mae Secrest

Vera Mae (Wolkins) Secrest died March 20, 2019 in Hereford, TX. Vera was born May 25, 1925 in Tabor, IA. That same year her family moved to Gordon, NE. Vera met her future husband, Archie when she was a freshman in high school and vowed to marry him, which she did on July 2, 1943. After Archie returned from World War II, they moved to the Secrest’s ranch southeast of Gordon in the Sandhills where  two sons were born and raised- Wynn Howard (1947) and Randy Marshal


Keith Hamilton Roberts

Keith Hamilton “Bud” Roberts, 100, passed away April 13, 2019 following a short illness. He was born December 29, 1918 on the family farm 7 miles east of Gordon, Nebraska.  Bud attended country grade school at Sudan and graduated Gordon High School in 1936.  He farmed and ranched with his father and brother Jack until he retired.  As farmers, the brothers were progressive, drilling one of the first irrigations wells in the area.  Bud was a

Memorial Service for Harley Jensen will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. The church is at 419 Main Street in Rushville, Nebraska.

Ruth Elaine (Sandoz) Rothfuss

Mrs. Ruth Elaine Rothfuss , age 91, of Colby, Kansas, passed away on March 24, 2019 at the Prairie Senior Living Center. She was a former resident of Dewey, Oklahoma. 

Ruth was born to James Frederick & Mary Elizabeth (Kearns) Sandoz on July 23, 1927 in Gordon, Nebraska. Her grandfather was Old Jules of Nebraska state fame for being the first settler in the Sandhills. She grew up on their ranch 30 miles south of Gordon. She attended the local one room schoolhouse through the eighth


June Weyers Dillon

June Weyers Dillon a long time resident of Monte Vista passed away March 26, 2019 at The Palisades Assisted Living in Colorado Springs. June was born in Lyman, Nebraska April 30, 1931 to Albert and Maude Richardson. They moved to a farm near Hay Springs, Nebraska where she attended high school and later met and married Louis Weyers. They moved to Monte Vista, Colorado and purchased Downtown Liquor in 1964. She was divorced in 1970 and later met Loren Dillon of Center, Colorado whom she married


Gerald Davis

Gerald Davis, 74, of Lisco passed away Saturday evening, April 6, 2019 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Lisco Legion with Pastor Kerry Johnson officiating.  Military Honors will be rendered at the memorial service.  Services will conclude at the Legion and burial will be held at a later date in Rushville.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.

Dorothy Turnbull Janssen

Dorothy Jane (Warnke) Turnbull Janssen was born in Petersburg, Nebraska to Emil Earnest Warnke and Magdalena “Lena” Katrina Dohse on July 11, 1922. She was the 5th of 6 children. Dorothy lived and loved in a 250-mile radius of Nebraska her whole life. She died on March 27, 2019, in Hay Springs, Nebraska.

Dorothy lived a very simple life. She grew up with her siblings on the farm in Petersburg. She had many memories of shenanigans with her brothers and sisters out in the fields
