Martin Gaspers, 71, years old passed away on November 11,2020, in Loveland, Colorado.

Martin was born June 11, 1949, in Rushville, Nebraska, to Edward Gaspers & Normalee Gaspers. 

Martin grew up in Rushville and graduated with the Class of 1966. He later attended Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska.

He enlisted in the United States Army in June 1967, serving four years including one tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service while

Tom Vernon, 80, of Vivian passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020, at his home.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church in Pierre. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Kenneth Tulloss

Kenneth Lloyd Tulloss Sr., 74, of Gordon, Nebraska died Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his home. He was born December 22, 1945, in Rushville, Nebraska to Val W. and Jessie Tulloss.

He grew up in Parmelee, South Dakota. His father was a successful grocer, and his mother was an elementary teacher. He attended He Dog Elementary and Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. He graduated from Valentine High School in 1964. He then completed his Master of Business Administration from Chadron


June Stone

June Bell Stone, 85, of Gordon, passed away Saturday, November 14th, 2020 at Gordon Countryside Care Nursing Home.

She was born November 7th, 1935, in Custer County, Nebraska. As a young girl she lived with her family on a ranch near Broken Bow, Nebraska where she graduated high school and went on to Kearney State College.  Subsequently she taught school at several country schools in rural areas of central Nebraska.

On August 19th, 1956, she married Raymond L. Stone at a country church


Don Weber

Brighton Colorado resident Don Weber, 97, passed away Sunday, November 8,2020, at Avamere Transitional Health Care in Brighton.

Don was born June 14, 1923, in Hooker County, Neb., to Clyde and Mildred (Trudell). Don attended Primary and High School in Merriman, Neb.  He was married to Eveyln Hines in 1943, and to this union was born two sons and two daughters. David Weber,  Laura Schafer,  Shirley Blaylock and Jim Weber.

Bud Finkey

Services will be held Saturday, November 21, 10:00 a.m at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 5th and Main Street, Rushville, Neb., with interment immediately following, the Reverend Allan Wierschke officiating. The family will begin receiving visitors at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery Military plot alongside his wife Ello Dee. Ronald Maurice “Mose” Hebbert

Ronald Maurice “Mose” Hebbert age 90 of passed away on November 2, 2020 at the Box Bute Hospital in Alliance.

Ronald was born March 29, 1930, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alliance, Neb. His parents were Albert and Ima Fern (Shepard) Hebbert.  Mose was the oldest of five children. He was raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska in the Gordon and Ashby area, and he attended high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis, Neb., graduating with the class


Randy M. Secrest

Randy Marshal Secrest, 70 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska.  Randy was born on August 19, 1950, in Gordon, Nebraska, the second of two sons born to Archie and Vera (Wolkins) Secrest. 

On August 21, 1982, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Martha “Marty” Trumble and to this union the couple were blessed with three children: Bo, Jessica, and Kacy.



Lester James Thayer

Lester James Thayer, 78, of Merriman, Nebraska, passed away on November 4, 2020, after a short illness.

He was born to parents James Eli Thayer and Maude Mae Swick, on August 19, 1942, in Newport, Nebraska, the fifth of six children.

Lester married Verla Clausen on April 17, 1961, in Rushville, Neb. To this union six children were born: Verlene, Verna, LeAnn, Leslie, Cassie, and Malena.  For the majority of their marriage they lived in Merriman, where Lester worked for the Cherry County


Ilene Harriet (Preble) Kubo

Funeral services for Ilene H. Kubo were held on Friday, November 6, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska, with Dr. Russ Seger officiating. Burial will follow at Hay Springs City Cemetery in Hay Springs, Nebraska. A visitation was held on Thursday, November 5, 2020, from 5-8 p.m. at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska. 

Ilene was born on March 22, 1932, to Charles A. and Wanda A. (Myers) Preble.

Ilene graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1950.



Clayton and Doris Tallon

Clayton Tallon passed away peacefully at Pioneer Manor on October 24, 2020. Clayton was born on October 17, 1932, to Thomas and Katie (Skoda) in Rushville, Neb.

Clayton was raised on the ranch 12 miles north of Rushville by his grandparents Charlie and Bessie Skoda. He attended the Craven Creek School and rode his horse five miles each way. He moved to Rushville when he entered the 7th grade to live with his mother and graduated in 1950.
