Harold Hupp

Harold Paul Hupp was born on March 11, 1932, to Albert and Opal (Forster) Hupp in Gordon, Nebraska, at the old hospital.  He joined 3 brothers: Vern, Orville (Doc), and Eugene (Pete).  He grew up 10 miles east and 1.5 miles south of Gordon in a house with no running water and attended the former Hay Creek Country School.  The four boys would either walk the 2 miles across pastures or ride horseback to get to school.

Barbara King Marcy

Barbara Ruth King Marcy was born April 9, 1927 in Amherst, Nebraska, one of five children, and the only daughter, of George and Myrtle (Harris) King. Barbara passed December 23, 2018 at Country House III in Lincoln Nebraska.

Barbara King was introduced to Charles Marcy by her brother - and Charles’ fraternity brother - Keith King and his wife Betty. For the rest of their lives Keith and Betty proudly claimed credit for what proved to be an enduring marriage, partnership, and friendship


Leslie (Les) Evert

Leslie Evert, 88, of Gordon, died December 24, 2018, at Gordon Countryside Care.

He was born July 29, 1930, in Torrington, Wyoming to Lewis and Nette (Hanks) Evert. As a young man his family homesteaded near Chimney Rock and Bayard, Nebraska. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1953, he moved to Gordon.

On a trip to Springview, Neb., with his friend Ed Prentice, he met Annabelle Prentice. He and Annabelle were married in 1955. They had three children, Cindy


James (Jim) E. Musfelt, Jr.

Jim Musfelt, Jr. was born on October 28, 1954, to Eldon and Hazel Musfelt. He passed away on October 30, 2018.

He was preceeded in death by his father, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Jim is survived by his mother, Hazel Musfelt; Bonnie Musfelt, Candi Musfelt and Keith Bostock, Sandi Musfelt and Waldo Breast, and Mandi Musfelt and Victor Black Elk; three sisters: Connie Schwarting, Diane Coats (Dick Coats), and Beverly Pierce (Cliff Pierce); grandchildren: Andrew Black Elk, Ralynn


Hope “LeToy” Leach

Hope “LeToy” Leach was the first-born child of Fred & Winnie (Henderson) Burck, born on January 14, 1941.  She grew up in Gordon, Nebraska and surrounding areas. In the early 1960s, she graduated from Cosmetology College in Norfolk, later returning to Gordon where she began her career as a hairdresser. She then moved to Ceres, California where she operated her own beauty salon for 15 years. LeToy returned to Gordon where she worked at Kut n’ Kurl salon for many

Bonnie Black, 71, passed away December 25, 2018, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hay Springs, Neb. On June 8, 1947, a little girl named Bonnie Dolly was born to Percy and Florence Black in Kadoka, S.D. She joined an older brother Howard, and a few years later her younger brother Jim was born. Bonnie grew up in Hisle, S.D., until she was six years old when the family moved to Martin. There, Bonnie attended school, developing her love of reading. Robert Dale Yeager

     Robert Dale Yeager of Valentine, NE, passed away peacefully at his home near Valentine, Nebraska on December 12, 2018 at the age of 92.

Derwin Harry Holsinger was born on August 1, 1922 just outside of Gordon, NE to Harry and Dorothy (Cover) Holsinger.

He married the love of his life, Virginia Adele Drury, on September 19, 1948 and together they raised 5 children; Mark Holsinger, Shelley (Holsinger) Hunt, Matthew Holsinger, Susan (Holsinger) Pelton, and Mitchell Holsinger. He also had 12 grandchildren as well as 10 great grandchildren.
