The Hawks boys basketball team dropped a pair of home games over the weekend with losses to the Crawford Rams and the Mullen Broncos. Friday night, the Rams held an early 12-2 first quarter edge and maintained that ten point lead into the half 23-13. The Rams used a 10-0 early third quarter run to open up a close game and again outscored the Hawks 10-5 in the fourth to put an exclamation point on the 45-21 victory. Clayton Serres led the Rams with 19 points while Taylor Osmotherly added 12. The Hawks were led by Jordan Encinia, Regg Strotheide, and Matt Hessler who each scored 5 for the Hawks.

Saturday, the Mullen Broncos rolled into town on a chilly night but had a hot night on the basketball floor putting up double digits in all four quarters against the Hawks. The Broncos held the Hawks scoreless in the first quarter to lead 17-0 after eight minutes and outscored the Hawks 10-4 in the second to lead 27-4 at the half. The Broncos were hot out of the lockerroom putting up 19 in the quarter while holding the Hawks to 5. The Hawks had a strong fourth quarter besting the Broncos 15-10 in the quarter but the Broncos took home the 56-24 win. Two players finished in double figures for the Broncos led by Riley Rice with 17. Tye Spies added 14. The Hawks were led by Matt Hessler with 11.
