Hawks split pair of games

The Hawks picked up their second victory of the season Friday night while splitting a pair of games with Banner County and Leyton.  The Hawks won an exciting 49-46 game over the Banner County Wildcats in Harrisburg before losing to Leyton Saturday night 55-20.  

The Wildcats led the Hawks in the first three quarters before the Hawks used a big fourth quarter to take the three point victory.  The Wildcats led by the slimmest of margins at the end of the first 11-10 and led by three at the half 21-18.  The Wildcats extended their lead to seven at the end of the third quarter before the Hawks outscored the Wildcats 20-10 in the fourth for the three point victory.  

The Hawks were led by Regg Strotheide who finished with 16 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.  Jordan Encinia added 13 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  The Wildcats finished with 3 players in double figures led by Tyson Dahlgrin with 19.  Mike McKown and Ben Hostettler added 15 and 10 points respectively.  Matthew Hessler and Seth Nowak led the Hawks on the boards with 8 and 7 caroms respectively.

Saturday night the Hawks traveled to Dalton to take on the undefeated Leyton Warriors and lost 55-20.  The Warriors proved why they have yet to lose a game this season when they raced out to a 25-7 first quarter lead and led 35-11 at the break.  The Warriors had another strong quarter in the third before cruising to a comfortable win in the fourth.  

The Hawks were led by Jordan Encinia with 9 points and 3 steals.  Seth Nowak led the Hawks in rebounds with 8 and Regg Strotheide dished out 4 assists to lead the Hawks in that category.  

The Warriors finished with two players in double figures led by Brennan Cruise with 12.  Dylan Brenner added 10.  The Hawks will be back in action again on Thursday when they host the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys.  They will also host Gordon/Rushville on Friday and travel to Potter on Saturday.
