The six wrestlers that competed at the Mullen Invitational Wrestling tournament brought home plenty of hardware on Saturday. In the 120 lb. weight class Chris Ray came home with the silver medal. Ray won by pin in his first two matches and then lost a close 5-2 decision to Brandon Burruss of High Plains.
Levi Ray, wrestling in the 126 lb weight class also won both of his first two matches by pins before losing by pin in the finals to Tyan Boyer of Plainview to finish second.
Joey Johnson also finished second in his class. He won by pin over Morgan Starr of Red Cloud and by pin over Cord Hesseltine of Sandhills-Thedford before losin big to Corby Forbes of Plainview.
In the 220 lb. class Stevin Horrocks brought home the Hawks only championship by pinning his way to the title. Horrocks opened with a 7 second pin over Brandon Johnson of Mullen and pinned Jacob Louder of Hershey in 10 seconds in the second round. In the finals, Horrocks also won by pin in 5:11 over Josh Zern of Plainview.
Jake Johnson and Kolten Marx also wrestled in the meet but did not place. The Hawks will be in action again on Saturday the 26th at Red Cloud, South Dakota.
