On May 23-24, Morgan Darnell and Blake Henry traveled to McCook, Nebraska for the Nebraska Junior High state finals rodeo. In the first round, Blake placed 6th in the breakaway and 8th in the chute dogging. Morgan placed 3rd in the goat tying, 4th in the ribbon roping and 1st in the team roping.
In round two, Blake placed 9th in the goats. Morgan placed 2nd in the breakaway roping and 2nd in team roping.
Blake finished 6th in the average in breakaway roping and 11th in Chute dogging.
Morgan was 2nd in the average in breakaway roping and finished 5th in the state. Morgan and her partner,Ryan Koenig, from Ewing, Nebraska were 3rd in the state in the ribbon roping. In the team roping, Morgan and her partner, Maddee Doerr, from Creighton, Nebraska won the average at the finals and were the state champion team ropers.
The top four in each event will travel to Gallup, New Mexico June 23-30 for the Junior High National finals rodeo where they will compete with over 900 contestants from the United States including Hawaii and Alaska, Canada, and Australia. Morgan will be competing in ribbon roping and team roping.
