Wellnitz takes fifth at State Cross Country

The Lady Mustangs had a good showing at the State Cross County Meet in Kearney Friday afternoon, led by Junior Dani Wellnitz with a 5th place finish. Wellnitz finished the 5,000 meter course in 20:17.4, just 21.4 seconds behind champion Katherine Lansman of Ord. Dani also finished fifth at last year’s state meet.
Tessa Gale of Cody-Kilgore finished 62nd with a time of 22:38.8. Rachel Johnson took 106th with a time of 24:39.8. Robin Ferguson finished 113th with a time of 25:29.1. Sophomore Audra Johns finished 117th with a time of 25:47.1. Rebecca Wellnitz took 119th with a time of 25:57.0, and Freshman Maddison Cox finished 120th in a time of 25:58.1.
The Lady Mustangs finished 15th overall as a team in this year’s meet.
