Thursday night in the sub-district final the Lady Hawks fell behind early in the first quarter but managed to cut the Longhorn lead to two, 12-10 at the end of the first quarter.
The lead see-sawed back and forth in the second quarter and it looked like the Longhorns would hold a five point advantage at the half, when Kerisa Marx hit a lay-up as time expired to trim the Longhorn lead to three 21-18 at the half. The third quarter was big for the Lady Hawks as they outscored the Lady Longhorns 12-6 to take a 30-27 lead into the last stanza. The Longhorns weren’t about to go away easily as they tied the game at 32 with 4:20 left to play. The Hawks, who struggled from the freethrow line, hitting just 12 of 25 on the evening, hit eight of those twelve freethrows in the last 2:26 of the game to hold on for the five point victory.
The Lady Hawks were led in scoring by Kelsey Kudrna with 12. Sarah Ramsay and Savannah Jamison had 12 and 10 points respectively to lead the Lady Longhorns.
