The Mustangs competed at the Perkins County, E. Lee Todd Invitational Track Meet last Thursday in Grant, Neb.
The girls finished in 9th place with a total of 28 team points. The boys finished 3rd behind St. Patrick and Ogallala with a total of 69 team points. The Mustangs came out on top in 5 events, with Dani Wellnitz winning the girls 3200, Cole Wellnitz winning the boys 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs, and the boys 4x800 meter relay team winning.
The girls 4x400 meter relay team of Jordan Shadbolt, Anna Shadbolt, Cali Mulcahy, and Hali Sahr, placed 7th with a time of 4:35.4.
The girls 4x800 meter relay team of Hannah Andersen, Dani Wellnitz, Jordan Shadbolt and Denie Wellnitz finished second with a time of 10:46.1.
Dani Wellnitz finished 5th in the girls 1600 meter run with a time of 5:57. Dani took first in the 3200 meter run with a winning time of 12:17.6.
Hali Sahr finished 6th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.9 seconds.
Cali Mulcahy took 6th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.2 seconds.
Sara Marlatt finished 3rd in the girls discus with a distance of 98’ 4”.
The boys 4x100 meter relay team of Tristan Tuma, Daniele Marozzi, Kalen Coats and Ryan Burdine finished 9th with a time of 47.9 seconds. The Weightman’s team of Devin Dykes, Gardner Lemur, Wyatt Johns and Ben Wegner placed 5th with a time of 56.5 seconds.
The boys 4x400 meter relay team of Lex Haller, Ryan Burdine, James Neeley and Cody Campbell finished 10th with a time of 4:23.
The boys 4x800 meter relay team of Matt Downing, Cole Wellnitz, Gary Kaplan and James Neeley came in first by nearly four seconds with a winning time of 8:46.8.
Gary Kaplan finished 3rd in the boys 400 meter dash with a time of 53 seconds.
Cole Wellnitz won the boys 800 meter run with a time of 2:03.4. Cole also won the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:41.8, and the 3200 meter run with 10:53.1.
Ryan Burdine took 5th in the boys 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.9 seconds. Ryan placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles in 43.7 seconds.
Lex Haller took 2nd in the boys high jump, jumping a height of 5’ 8”.
The Mustangs next meet will be the Western Trail Conference meet in Kemball, Saturday, April 14. The meet is set to start at 1 p.m.
