Seven Hawks and Lady Hawks competed in the Best of the West track meet held at Scottsbluff’s Bearcat Stadium on Tuesday the 24th, and Stevin Horrocks came home as a gold medalist in the 110 high hurdles.
Horrocks edged Potter-Dix’s Ty Ottoson to win the 110 highs in 15.72 seconds. Horrocks also finished 4th in the 300 hurdles and set a new school record in a time of 41.11 seconds.
Austin Weyers finished 6th in the triple jump with a jump of 41’ 1/2” and John Rotness finished out of the medals in the high jump.
For the Lady Hawks, the two mile relay team knocked another six seconds off their best time of the season to finish 4th in a time of 10:54. Members of that relay were Kerisa Marx, Jennifer Scherbarth, Brittany Ferguson, and Jerilyn Scherbarth. Coach Rachel Mandelko was very pleased with the performances of the athletes. “Our athletes’ attempts and accomplishments at this big of a meet were outstanding,” said Coach Mandelko. “When you are a Class D school competing with B,C, and D schools, placing in the top of your events is a great accomplishment.”
