The Mustangs traveled to Hershey last Thursday for the District C-11 track meet. As a team, the boys won the meet with a total of 92 team points. The girls came in a close second with 81 team points, behind Perkins County’s 84. Individuals qualifying for the state meet include: Sara Marlatt, Discus, Hannah Anderson, 800m, Dani Wellnitz, 1600m and 3200m, Denie Jacobsen, 1600m, Lex Haller, High Jump, Lemur Gardner, Discus, Cole Wellnitz, 800m, 1600m and 3200m, Gary Kaplan, 800m and 1600m, Boys 3200m relay (Matt Downey, James Neely, Gary Kaplan, Cole Wellnitz).
Cole Wellnitz took first in the boys 800 and 1600 meter runs, with a time of 2:02.10 in the 800, and 4:46.70 in the 1600.
Gary Kaplan came in 2nd in the 800 with a time of 2:05.9, and James Neeley finished in 4th in 2:14.40. Gary finished 3rd in the 1600 with a time of 4:47.70.
Cole Wellnitz finished 2nd in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:48.80.
Ryan Burdine came in 6th in the boys 110 hurdles with a time of 17.6 seconds, and 3rd in the 300 hurdles in 43.3 seconds.
The boys 4x100 relay team of Ryan Burdine, Daniele Marozzi, John Tullis and Tristan Tuma finished 5th with a time of 48 seconds.
The boys 4x400 relay team of Lex Haller, Gary Kaplan, Matt Downing and James Neeley came in 6th with a time of 3:52.30.
The boys 4x800 relay team of Gary Kaplan, Matt Downing, James Neeley and Cole Wellnitz took first place with a winning time of 8:32.0.
Daniele Marozzi finished 4th in the long jump with a jump of 19’ 5”.
Lemur Gardner took first in the discus with a winning throw of 138’ 7”.
Lex Haller finished 2nd in the high jump with a jump of 5’ 8”. Cole Beaver came in 4th with 5’ 6”.
On the girls side, Cirsten Hinn finished 6th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:08.9.
In the 800 meter run Hannah Andersen finished 2nd with a time of 2:31.2, and Rachel Johnson finished 5th with a time of 2:48.1.
Dani Wellnitz won the girls 1600 meter run with a time of 5:52.5, followed by Denie Jacobson in 2nd in 5:57.5. Dani also won the 3200 with a winning time of 12:25.0.
Hali Sahr came in 4th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.2 seconds.
Anna Shadbolt came in 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.4 seconds, followed closely by Hali Sahr in 4th in 51.8 seconds.
The girls 4x100 meter relay team of Cirsten Hinn, Cali Mulcahy, Hali Sahr and Anna Shadbolt finished 3rd with a time of 53.9 seconds.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Hannah Andersen, Cirsten Hinn, Cali Mulcahy and Jordan Shadbolt finished 4th with a time of 4:40.2.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Hannah Andersen, Denie Jacobson, Rachel Johnson and Dani Wellnitz finished 2nd with a time of 10:33.9.
Sara Marlatt won the girls discus with a throw of 118’ 7”.
The state track meet will be held Friday and Saturday, May 18-19 at Omaha Burke.
