As the Nebraska Junior High School rodeo season comes to an end, four local students will be traveling to Gallup, N.M. to compete in the 8th Annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo June 24-30. They will be competing with more than 1000 contestants from 47 states, Canadian provinces and Australia.
Contestants that finished in the top four of their state rodeo association will be on the national team competing in Gallup. Four students from Gordon-Rushville Middle School will be on the Nebraska National team.
Cody Darnell was the Nebraska State All Around Cowboy. This achievement earned him a saddle. Cody qualified for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo in four events. Cody was the state champion in goat tying, and the state champion ribbon roper with his partner, Megan Turek. Cody was the reserve champion tie-down calf roper and the reserve champion team roper with his partner, JT Adamson.
Morgan Darnell will be competing at the National Junior high finals in the NRA Small Bore Rifle Shooting Competition.
Brock Henry qualified by being the state champion Chute Dogger. Blake Henry qualified in the ribbon roping with his partner Maddee Dooer.

Performances are at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The first performance will be on Sunday, June 24 at 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, June 14 from 5:30-7:00 p.m., the national qualifiers will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers at the 4-H show ring to help with traveling expenses. They will also be having a goat roping at 7:00 p.m.
