Wildcats no match for Hay Springs Girls Basketball Team

The Hay Springs Hawks Girls Basketball team continued their 2021-22 campaign with a home match-up against the Banner County Wildcats.
The Hawks controlled this one early, amassing a 20-2 lead after just one quarter of play. A 36-8 halftime lead would snowball into the 56-25 win for the Hawks.
A trio of ladies reached double digits in the scoring column. Senior Sadie Hanks led the way with 16 points.
Junior Samantha Toof was right behind her teammate with 15 points. Toof filled up the box score in this one. She added in 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals in the win.
The final double-digit scorer was junior Emily Nelson with 12 points. Nelson also pulled down 9 rebounds.
Other notable contributors were senior Jazlyn Smith with 9 rebounds and 4 points, junior Molly Spicer with 6 points, and sophomore Alexa Tonjes with 3 points and 8 rebounds.
With the win, the Hawks evened their record at 4-4 on the season.
The upcoming schedule for the Hawks includes an away contest against the Class B Alliance Bulldogs on Friday, January 7.
They will follow up that trip with another to Leyton to take on the Warriors on Saturday, January 9.
The Hawks final game of the upcoming week is a trip to Sheridan County rival Gordon-Rushville for the third road contest in a row on Tuesday, January 11.
The match-up with Gordon-Rushville will be broadcasted live on the Sheridan County Journal Star’s YouTube channel.
