The Hawks boys basketball squad split a pair of games on opening weekend, falling on the road to the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys Friday night and downing the Arthur County Wolves in their home debut on Saturday. The Hawks fell behind early at Cody trailing 12-6 at the end of the first quarter and 22-11 at the half. The Cowboys continued to put up double digits in the second half, outscoring the 29-6 in the final two quarters for the 51-17 victory. The Hawks were led by Eli Badje with 5 points. Regg Strotheide and Dylan Parker added 3 each. The Cowboys were led by Casey Lamle with 12. Jalen Grant also finished in double figures with 10.

Saturday afternoon, the Hawks opened their home debut with a 39-30 victory over the Arthur County Wolves. The Hawks led 6-3 at the end of the first quarter but were outscored by the Wolves 10-2 in the second to trail 13-8 at the half. The Hawks tied the game at 14 in the third quarter when Regg Strotheide hit a three pointer and was fouled. Jordan Encinia also added two treys in the quarter as the Hawks outscored the Wolves 16-6 in the quarter to take the 24-19 lead heading into the final stanza. The Hawks sealed the victory by besting the Wolves 15-11 in the final 8 minutes. The Hawks placed two players in double figures led by Regg Strotheide with 16 and Jordan Encinia with 14. The Hawks will be in action again next weekend when they host Crawford on Friday night and Mullen on Saturday night.
