On May 4, 2024, angels ushered Ross Craig of Midwest City, Okla. into the arms of His Savior Jesus. Upon graduation from Gulf-Coast Bible College in 1969, God called Ross and his precious wife Delana to pastor the Gordon Church of God and it was a blessed match.

Donna Hood

Donna Lou Hood née Myers, of Rushville, Neb., died Monday, April 29, 2024 at Gordon Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family, following a short illness. Born August 1932 in Rushville, Neb. to Roy and Edna Myers, Donna married Kenneth Hood at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rushville on June 19, 1955. The couple lived in rural Alliance, Neb., for 15 years prior to returning to Rushville in November of 1969. A graduate of Rushville High School, Donna taught at several rural schools prior to marriage. A lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rushville, Donna served in the Ladies Aid and many other church related activities. Also an avid reader, Donna always had a book and her daily devotions queued up on her Kindle.

James “Jim” Bamsey

Mass of Christian Burial for James “Jim” Bamsey, age 80, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Brett Jamrog will be celebrant, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service.

Zale Quible

Zale Kenneth Quible, 79, of Merriman, Neb. passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2024 after a months-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Zale was the youngest of three children born to Kenneth and Clare (Beyersdorf) Quible on June 27, 1944. He attended school just across the highway at a rural schoolhouse on the Quible Ranch through seventh grade and eighth grade in Merriman. Zale then attended high school at the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, NE, and graduated in 1962. After graduation, he returned to the family ranch where he lived the remainder of his life. He began working on the ranch with his parents and liked to spend some time riding down the road on his motorcycle and burning the back tires off his cars. This need for speed led to him racing cars at area race tracks for several years and later doing some off-road racing.

Angela Hoagland

Angela René (Beguin) Hoagland was born six weeks premature to Myrna and Blayne Beguin on September 2, 1960 in Rushville, NE. After one week in an incubator, the doctors decided they better weigh the little fighter because she was obviously stronger than they realized, and this set the theme for her entire life. She grew up on the Beguin Ranch with her siblings who she adored. Judy soon joined the family and the Beguin Bunch grew. She loved swimming in the creek, riding horses and fighting with her siblings. Angie rarely stood up for herself, but cross anyone she loved and you would get to experience just how deeply she loved her family.

Beverly Coomes

Beverly Esther Coomes, age 68, passed away April 12, 2024. Beverly was born in Gordon, Nebraska on June 26, 1955 to Kelley and Esther (Meyer) Coomes. She grew up in White Clay, Nebraska with four rough and tough brothers to which she was the baby. She attended and graduated from Rushville High School in 1973. She then moved to Rapid City, S.D. with her mother to attend National College of Business. After graduating in 1976, she began working for MPI which later became SCI as a Computer Technician until 2009 when the business closed. She then went back to school at Western Dakota Tech where she studied Medical Transcription and graduated in 2011. She then worked at Kelly Services/RMC Neurology & Rehab but due to health issues, she left the workforce and retired.

Clarice Goranson

Clarice Joy Goranson was born May 25, 1930 in Gordon, Nebraska to Otis R. and Gertie May (Burke) Rager and died April 9, 2024 at The Gordon Memorial Hospital at the age of 93. Clarice grew up on a farm east of Gordon and attended country school. She graduated from Gordon High School in 1948 and continued her education at Nebraska Wesleyan University graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics Education in 1952. While attending college, she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
